Winners of First Prize at both the Bordeaux and Banff International String Quartet Competitions, the Marmen Quartet has rapidly established itself as one of the most impressive young chamber ensembles in the world. Praised by the BBC for their “uncompromising beauty and bravery” and acclaimed for performances at Wigmore Hall, the Berlin Philharmonie, and the BBC Proms, the Marmen bring vitality, courage, and deep musical intelligence to everything they play.
They are joined by pianist Anna Petrova, Co-Artistic Director of ATX Chamber Music and Jazz, whose “enlightened performances” (BBC Music), commanding artistry and deep commitment to collaboration have taken her to some of the world’s major concert stages. The program features highlights including Debussy’s luminous String Quartet, Ligeti’s kaleidoscopic “Métamorphoses nocturnes,” and the passionate grandeur of Franck’s Piano Quintet. This concert caps an educational outreach week that brings world-class artistry directly into Austin’s schools and communities.
