Acclaimed soprano Jeanine De Bique brings her radiant voice to the historic Chateau Bellevue, transformed by candlelight into an intimate salon. This extraordinary program traces a journey through centuries and continents—from Purcell’s haunting baroque lament to Rimbaud’s fevered visions in Britten’s Les Illuminations, from André Previn’s poignant Honey and Rue to the vibrant storytelling of Caribbean folk songs.
In the flickering glow of candlelight, De Bique’s “luminous voice” (The Guardian) illuminates songs of searching and memory, exile and homecoming, shadow and revelation. Thoughtfully crafted cocktails by The Roosevelt Room accompany the evening. Renowned for their spellbinding performances and singular sound, the Danish String Quartet makes only a handful of U.S. appearances each year—Austin is among the few. Hear them live in an evocative program blending classical masterworks with original pieces from their acclaimed album Keel Road.
